About

We started this because nobody else was looking.

Black Belt Cyber Security is a new company, run by two cousins, doing one thing carefully: assessing the computers inside homes that are otherwise extremely well protected.

Why

The gap was hiding in plain sight.

Walk through a home in Brentwood or Bel Air and you’ll find serious money spent on security, spent well. Cameras. Gate entry. A monitored alarm. Patrol response that arrives in minutes. Locks chosen by someone who knows locks.

Then ask a simple question: when did anyone last look at the computers inside?

The answer, almost always, is never. Not because anyone was careless — because it isn’t anybody’s job. The alarm company doesn’t do it. The patrol service doesn’t do it. The person who set up the Wi-Fi years ago certainly doesn’t. So the machines a family works, banks, and talks on sit there, quietly accumulating skipped updates and settings switched off years ago, behind a front door that is genuinely very hard to open.

That’s the whole reason this company exists. One question nobody was asking, asked properly.

About the name

Yes, we have actual black belts.

One of us earned a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. The other holds a second-degree black belt in Jiu-Jitsu. These are martial arts facts. They are not cybersecurity credentials, and we’d never dress them up as any.

We chose the name for what a black belt actually means, which is almost the opposite of what people assume. It isn’t a collection of impressive techniques. It’s the fundamentals drilled so many times that you stop having to think about them — and start seeing the opening before it gets used.

That is precisely what a good security assessment is. Not exotic threats and clever attacks. The basics, checked properly, by someone who has looked at enough of them to notice what’s out of place.

And yes — we know exactly how the name sounds, and we’re enjoying it. It just also happens to be true.

How we work

What you can hold us to.

We’re new, and we haven’t asked you to take anything on faith. So here is how we operate, written down.

  • The findings are yours alone

Your report goes to you. Not to a partner, a platform, or a marketing team. We don’t publish case studies about clients and we don’t put anyone’s name on a list. If you want your report shared with anyone, you’re the one who shares it.

  • We tell you what’s out of scope before you pay

The assessment covers the computers in your home. It doesn’t cover phones, your network, smart home devices, or your online accounts. You’ll hear that from us clearly, on the first call, before any money changes hands.

  • Our software comes off when we’re done

We install assessment software for the assessment and remove it at the end. We schedule the removal with you, and a person takes it off with your permission, in front of you. It isn’t monitoring, it doesn’t keep running, and nothing of ours stays in your house.

  • We don’t sell fear

There’s a version of this business built on frightening people, and it works. We’re not doing that. We’ll tell you what we found, how much it matters, and where the boring truth is that something is fine. Sometimes the honest answer is that a machine is in decent shape.

  • Fixing is separate, and optional

Repair work is quoted after you’ve read the report, never bundled in beforehand. You’re free to take the report to your own IT person, or to do nothing with it at all.

Have a conversation with us.

The first step is a conversation, not a commitment. We’ll tell you what an assessment covers, what it doesn’t, and whether we’re the right people for what you need.
